This baby feeding calculator estimates your infant's daily formula intake based on body weight and age. It accounts for the fact that newborns need more calories per pound than older babies, and includes a preemie correction mode that adjusts for corrected gestational age โ something most standard calculators ignore. Whether you're figuring out how much formula a newborn needs per day or checking if your 6-month-old is getting enough, this tool gives you a data-driven starting point.
The calculator uses standard pediatric nutrition guidelines for daily milk intake:
Feed frequency decreases as babies grow: 8 feeds/day for newborns, down to 4 feeds/day by 12 months. The per-feed amount is simply daily total divided by number of feeds. For preemies, we subtract the weeks early from chronological age to get corrected age before applying these ranges.
This is an estimate, not a prescription. Every baby is different. Some days they'll want more, some days less. Growth spurts, illness, and teething all change appetite. Always follow your pediatrician's guidance, especially for premature infants or babies with medical conditions. Use this newborn formula amount calculator as a sanity check at 3 AM โ not a replacement for professional advice.
